Commands:

• Register - /msg NickServ REGISTER <password> <email@address>
  • Registers your current nick.
  • Registering your nick allows you to 'own' it. This then enables you to prevent others from using your nick, register channels, be granted access in channels, and allow others to send you messages.
  • The email address is NOT optional and you are strongly discouraged from using a fake address, as this will make it much harder to prove your ownership or retrieve a lost password.
  • An email-message will be sent to your email-box with instructions to complete the registration.

• /NickServ Set - /msg NickServ SET <setting> <value>

• Identify - /msg NickServ ID [nick] <password>
  • You don't have to specify the nick if you're currently using it.
  • You can also type out IDENTIFY instead of ID if you really want to.

• SIdentify - /msg NickServ SID <nick> <password>
  • This changes your nick upon successful identification.
  • You can also type out SIDENTIFY instead of SID if you really want to.

• Ghost - /msg NickServ GHOST <nick> [password]
  • Disconnects your "ghost" from the network; i.e. when you get peered but the server doesn't know it yet, you can disconnect the other "you" and reclaim your nick.
  • You don't have to specify the password if you are already identified for the nick
  • Automatically identifies you to the nick if you specify the password.

• Release - /msg NickServ RELEASE <nick> [password]
  • Releases your nick from services' hold, to allow you to get on it. Services will hold your nick if you use RECOVER on someone who's on it, or if you fail to ID in time and services changes your nick.
  • You don't have to specify the password if you are already identified for the nick
  • Automatically identifies you to the nick if you specify the password.

• Recover - /msg NickServ RECOVER <nick> [password]
  • Recovers your nick by changing the nick of the person who's on it to a guest nick. An alternative to GHOST; this is preferred to GHOST if it's someone else (not another "you", not your ghost) on your nick, as it's less noisy.
  • Services will hold the nick for about a minute to prevent them from changing right back. To get the nick back earlier, see: RELEASE.
  • You don't have to specify the password if you are already identified for the nick
  • Automatically identifies you to the nick if you specify the password.

• Info - /msg NickServ INFO <nick>
  • Lists information about a nick, such as:
    • Last seen address
    • Time registered
    • Last identified
    • Time now
    • Last real name field
    • Last quit message
    • Services rank
    • Email address (if not hidden)
    • Other misc things, such as: the nick's PROTECT setting; if the nick does not accept memos; if the nick cannot be added to access lists; if authorization is required to add the nick to access lists; if the nick is frozen and may not be used; or if the nick will not expire.

• DropGroup - /msg NickServ DROPGROUP <nick> <pass>
  • This allows you to drop/delete an entire group of nicks

• Link - /msg NickServ LINK <nick> <password>
  • Allows you to link (group) nicknames together.
  • You must be on an unregistered nickname; so <nick> must be the (already registered) nickname you want to group it to.
  • A nick group shares all settings (e.g. email), except the PROTECT setting.
  • GROUP is an alias for this command.

• Unlink - /msg NickServ UNLINK <nick> <pass>
  • This allows you to delete a registered nickname alias, so that anyone may now use or register it.
  • You must enter both the nick and password to drop a nick, to prevent accidental deletion.
  • DROP is an alias for this command.

• ChgRoot - /msg NickServ CHGROOT [oldroot] <newroot>
  • Allows you to change the rootnick for a nickgroup.
  • Your root nick should be your main nick.

• GList - /msg NickServ GLIST <nick>
  • This lists all nicks in a group.
  • LINKS is an alias for this.
  • You must be identified to the nick to list its members.

Additional Commands:

• AList - /msg NickServ ALIST <nick>
  • This lists all channel access entries for a nick
  • You must be identified to the nick to list its access
  • ListChans is an alias for this command.

• Watch - /msg NickServ WATCH <ADD|DEL|LIST> [nick]
  • Allows you to view and modify your NickServ watch list.
  • You will be notified when a user on your watch list connects to IRC.
  • Syntax:

        WATCH ADD <nick>
        WATCH DEL <nick>
        WATCH LIST

• • WATCH ADD adds the specified nick to your watch list. WATCH DEL deletes the specified nick from your nick list. WATCH LIST displays your watch list.

• Silence - /msg NickServ SILENCE <ADD|DEL|LIST> [mask]
  • Allows you to view and modify your NickServ silence list.
  • Users on your silence list will be unable to send you private messages.
  • Syntax:

        SILENCE ADD <mask>
        SILENCE DEL <mask>
        SILENCE LIST

• • SILENCE ADD adds the specified mask to your silence list. SILENCE DEL deletes the specified mask from your silence list. SILENCE LIST displays your silence list.

• Access - /msg NickServ ACC <user>
  • Allows you to check if a user is identified to their nick
  • The return codes have the following meanings:
    • 0 The nick is not registered.
    • 1 The nick is registered but not in use.
    • 2 The nick is in use but the user has not identified.
    • 3 The nick is in use and the user has identified.

• Seen - /msg NickServ SEEN <nick>
  • Displays how long it has been since a user identified to a nick.

• Profile - Allows you to add random information about yourself including AIM, MSN, Website, public email address, age, gender, etc.
  • Syntax:
    • PROFILE READ nickname [nickname ...]
    • PROFILE [nick] SET item data
    • PROFILE [nick] DEL item
    • PROFILE [nick] WIPE
• Auth - is used for reviewing and approving/rejecting channel access grants.
  • ACCEPT - Approve the authorization request and memo the person confirmation.
  • APPROVE - Same as accept.
  • DECLINE - Decline the authorization request and memo the person that you will not be added to that channel list.
  • REJECT - Same as decline
  • LIST - List auth requests.
  • Syntax
    • AUTH [nick] <LIST|ACCEPT|DECLINE> [num|chan]
